I have a one pipe steam system and since visiting this site I've done some tune ups on the boiler and seen about 25% less therms of gas used compared to last year over the last two months since doing the work.

I must pass along the same thanks. My basement used to be an oven, with the steam pressure higher than needed and the boiler cranking. Now it runs much less. I am amazed over how few service people know these tricks.

All my neighbors have the same systems and I am trying to convince them that they don't need 2 lbs of steam pressure!
