Main Vent Placement

Hi,
I have a question about where to place main vents, I currently have two 2" mains. First is 55' long (feeds 7 Rads)drops down to 1" and returns 55' back and has a Gorton #2 right before it drops down to boiler. Second is 25' long (feeds 5 Rads)drops down to 1" and returns 25' back and has a Gorton #1 right before it drops down to boiler.
My question is should the vents be on the 2" sections after the last rads, it seems like a waste to have all the return piping fill with steam before it fills the rads and the gorton #2 rarely shuts off with steam so I don't know if thats even helping.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks, JC

Yes they should
you can drill and tap 1/2" pipe thread holes in the sides of the last tees to mount the vents.
