vitodens vs. G142????

As best as I can tell, both are fine units. I doubt that a customer will ever complain about either. Plus, I would argue that the differences are subtle.

The Vitodens has a awesome control logic, very low electrical energy consumption and a thick, SS316Ti heat exchanger. Plus, it seems to have a CO2, pressure, or a MAF sensor as its combustion-air blower speed is intake resistance-specific. The one downside to the Vitodens is the short allowable length of concentric venting, which is only 22 feet, IIRC.

Many other boilers allow longer vents. On the other hand, the Vitodens runs so silent, you can mount it throughout the house and no-one will know its there. Like all condensing appliances, the Vitodens and GB142 should be roof-vented, if at all possible, in snow-country.

The Buderus has a better turn-down ratio (5-1 vs. 4-1), a slightly higher AFUE (IIRC), and a Aluminum HX. Thus, controlling water quality will be more important on the Buderus (i.e. call George at <a href="http://www.rhomarwater.com">Rhomar</a>!). Buderus finally seems to be shipping the GB142's, so the only remaining question is how well they stock spare parts.

As I stated earlier, either boiler should give your customers years of trouble-free service, though material choices, etc. make the Vitodens a little tougher and higher-end in my book.

Viotdens versus Buderus G142??? (new wall hung)

Can anyone out there contrast the Viotdens versus the new Buderus wall hung boiler. On a separate note, has anyone ever vented a Vitodens using AL29-4C up an existing brick chimney????

    Thanks,
