Large Glass Windows and radiant
Wayco Wayne_2

has a log home with large glass windows on one side of the house. They have a radiant floor, installed by someone else that I have been trying to get straightened out. (Staple up when they needed plates) They say they can feel cold air falling off of these windows and it's uncomfortable. I remember reading about someone putting heaters across windows like this to prevent just this sort of thing. Does anyone have any info or reference for me to follow about this? WW

One option
I use kickspace convectors in the floor mount boxes to blanket the windows with warm air. Those little suckers can move some BTU's if you can get access to the space below to install.
You can get lower temperature fan switches for them to run on radiant temperature supply, but, of course the output takes a hit.
BIG glass and log construction, ouch

cold windows and warm floors
Here is a tried and proven solution...use a two-stage thermostat...tekmar has some cool ones...run the floor with stage one and run the baseboard, or kickspace heaters, as secondary heat with the second stage. If you use outdoor reset then the baseboard can be set to run progressively hotter as the OAT falls lower which keeps the floor as the primary heat. Max temps can be programmed for the floor, WWSD can be set for the secondary heat source, and all sorts of neat parameters can be used, or ignored as the case, or ability, requires.0 -
Radiators....
It all depends on the look of course.....
Given that you have a staple up system, and hopefully there is either a spare manifold connection or the possibility to add one you have some reasonable water temps to extract some necessary BTU's out of.
There are some very nicely designed and thin Runtal & Myson radiators that would work just fine or even CI Baseray units by Burnham that would fit under those windows. If your home owner does not like that look, is there any way to build a CI unit into a window seat enclosure or other such arrangement?? They could sit right below each window and minimize the cold coming in thru the glass.......
Good Luck......... Alex0
