Looking for books on how to convert a steam boiler for FHW heat.

Thanks,

My previous post should have said FHW not FHA.
Sorry for the duplicate.

    Why

did you want to convert it? If the steam system isn't working properly it is usually more cost-effective to fix it.

I don't know of any books on the subject, but Dan wrote an article that you can read here:

Cost is not an issue. I just want to know how to do it.

Running pipe and new radiators is not a problem, I want to know what needs to be done to the boiler and what components that need to be added, expansion tank, valves etc. Basically, I just need a diagram with a parts list once I can see how it is done, it won't be an issue.

Can't be done, shouldn't be done...

A number of buildings over here have tried it. It led them to control issues they can't correct. It's like trying to wobble down the street wearing one shoe that is too tight and one giant clown-sized shoe. Grotesque.

At the very least you need an entire repipe of the condensate line. To do a real job you need both new supply and return line. You also need to deal with water leaks everywhere. Plus, you end up with a system that is not as good as when you start.

The piping around the boiler is affected the same way.

As far as adapting a new steam boiler for hot water installation, that should be easy. Remove all accessories. Install instead a low water cut out and an aquastat and a temperature and pressure relief vavle and a temperature and pressure gauge. There are probably other things you can add too.

    But why?

It is an HB Smith Series 8. Let me know if you need more specs on it.
