Since the format change on The Wall I find my system to be quite slow when accessing the posts. Is it just me or are others noticing a change in speed?

    Speed on the wall

My spped is fine too. No change or problem.

However, I have noticed that when I go to post, the window opens and someone elses name & e-mail address are on the top of the post. I have to delete them, and put in my own. This has been happening for a while. I've gotten used to it.

Any one else having that happen???

    Regards,

The Wall Site slow to respond

I would like to thank the person who put up the question why the Wall was slow. Dan told him to get some spyware and I started to think { not a common occurance} and I was experiencing slow response times as well. I went to Microsofts help page and low and hehold they have a free spyware program for download. So, ever looking for something free, I downloaded the program. I was very impressed with the program and very unhappy when I saw how many of my files had spy attachments on them. I even had some jerk in California trying to get AMEX to pay into his numbered company! The Microsoft program got rid of all the scum and our computer runs like it used to. Once again thanks for the imformation and I will never knock Microsofts customer service again it was excellent!

    Only problem is

you have to be running Windows XP or 2000 to use it. Users of Windows 98 or ME need not apply. Also they won't let you download it until they scan your computer "to see if you have a genuine copy of Windows". I suspect they scan for more than that, but aren't telling us.

Good customer service? I don't think so- more like typical Microsoft behavior. This is why I use WordPerfect Suite instead of Office and Netscape instead of Internet Explorer.

    Me too

Frequently, someone elses name comes up when I post. No big deal, I just delete it as well.

I'm guessing that's what happened to someone else on the "Breaking Drills ALOT" thread. I never posted anything about a 'one tooth holesaw'.

OTT is fast, eBay is fast, All other web sights load instantly.

Heating Help goes to error the first time and loads slowly on refresh. It does not seem to be my computer problem.

Are invision servers having a problem?

    speed

I have noticed that the wall opens a little slow, yes I know about all the cookies/scan disk/spy ware/defrag stuff but called the cable company anyway because alot of things were opening slowly dispite the fact I pay extra for my 6mb download, turns out it was my modem, they replaced it and boy did it make a difference but the wall still opens slower than other sites even w/ my pop-up blockers off???.

    I had Invision check today

and they looked at the site from several sources. There was no problem with speed. They found nothing unusual. I'm not having any problems either on my desktop or on my laptop.

    Definate problems..

There have been numerous mornings when I can't get on the Wall. I get an error code. I've sent it to the teckgeeks at Invision and they said they were aware of the problem and were working on it. My connection is extremely slow only to the Wall, and I'm on cable.

It's probably just due to its popularity:-)

Here's the warning that pops up on my screen when I can't connect.

    Error:
ODBC Error Code = S1000 (General error)

PS I get this every time I post

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at alder.invision.net.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

    :
Sorry. Although I'm listed as a best-preference MX or A for that host,
it isn't in my control/locals file, so I don't treat it as local. (#5.4.6)

I sent your post to Invision and this is what they said:

    Dan,

I just checked out the site and also the Database and everything appears to be fine. If he is referring to something that might have happened in the past then it could very well have been something we spotted and quickly addressed. But I am sure if it would have been something big we would have contacted you right away. It really hard to say what the particular incident might have been but since at this moment there are no issues I will continue to monitor the site and also the database for any unusual problems or activities. Please rest assured that we are constantly monitoring and are always aware of any potential problems that might arise.. Please let us know if there’s anything else we might be able to do for you…Thank you

    Ed and Rudy,

You need to clear your cache. You have a bad cookie keeping that someone else's name and e-mail in your comp.

Assuming your using Internet Explorer, go to the top, click on Tools, then Internet Options. When that opens in a new window, make sure your in the General tab, then click on Delete Cookies under Temporary Internet Files, and when that is done, click on Delete Files, and when that is done, go done to History and click Clear History. That should clean out any bad internet releated cookies and files, and get rid of your wrong name/e-mail problem. Do keep in mind htese procedures will get rid or any highlited links you have previously cliked on, such as Wall posts.

I was informed by a friend

that there is a virus going around that attacks servers. I did notice Heatinghelp was running slow a couple of days ago, with a couple of error pages popping up. But I also had a problem with oiltechtalk.com being incredibly slow or not downloading at all early last week. They both work fine now, but be aware this might happen here or at any other website for a while. Just have to grin and bear it.

    Wall problems

I have noticed that sometimes after viewing a post (particulary after viewing an attachment) that when I try to go back to the list of posted subjects that my laptop will "freeze up" on trying to get to the site. The green bars will show 2-3 bars and it will never do anything different.

I can hit refresh, and still can't get back. If I log off the site completely, then try to get back on, I'm not able to do so. I've even shut my computer completely down, then booted it back up, tried to go to the site, and it will never load.

I can go to other sites with no problem.

Have also noticed that sometimes things are very slow about loading. I'm on a satelite (Directway), and normally connections are pretty fast, although not as fast as cable.
