Saturday night Steaks!

I just had the best tasting steak I can remember in sometime. I cooked it in my "new" woodstove. I went several years w/o a stove because my wife didn't like them.

I had a chimney built 4 yrs ago by my buddy and I had a stove for emergencies and 0° weather. I had 2 stoves I hated. 3 weeks ago my brother gave me his old stove, one my dad bought in '78 for the oil embargo.

When I was a kid, Saturday nights dear old dad cooked steaks in the fireplace. baked potatoes too. Tonight I tried out the old wood stove. It has a door big enough for my two handled griller holder thing. great steak and great memories. Nice night for it 24" of snow scheduled.

    I'll be right over

That sounds great! Get some hickory or mesquite chips, for some additional flavor!

    steaks

looks like we are all on the same page tonite. just cooked a t-bone on my outside grill with several inches of snow and still falling. coupled with a couple glasses of merlot and finished with a montecristo stogie. life is good.

doing some Sunday shopping on Saturday too . With about 6 inches on the ground already , the malls , Best Buy , BJs , were all packed with people . Like the storm was the least of their worries ( mine too I guess ) . My sister is a 911 operator and gave me a scanner . I got home and listened to call after call of accidents coming in . Sometimes it's best to stay home and grill a few juicy steaks .

    Outside

I bought the steaks [porterhouse] with the intent to cook outside. I do this to defy all the people who put the grill away day after labor day. I even shoveled a path to the grill and covered it with a tarp to keep snow off.

I decided on the wood stove just because I could and haven't done it in about 10 yrs. I have cooked for New Years dinner outside at -5°F. I deep fried a turkey this year for new years eve.

My wifes usually freezes strawberries, I like to break them out this time of year. I settled for store bought today. Life is good.
