Leaking Boiler

I have a 12 year old Utica series MGB gas boiler and the cast iron sections are leaking badly. The cast iron sections are still under warranty, but I have been told by a couple heating contractors that it will be cheaper to buy an new boiler rather than fix this one due to the cost of labor. In addition, I am having difficulty to even find a Utica wholesale representative in Virigina to order the parts from. Should I just get a complete new boiler system?

i have some time and tools and experience however in the

winter very few people will spend the time to take aboiler apart and put it back together.so the answer is basically, consider getting another boiler, with the eye on Efficentcy ....as you have nat gas the munchkin might be a very slick replacement for the dollar. over time you may even recover from the set back...

    R McCaleb..

Yes, Getting a new boiler (depending on size & application) will be more cost effective than the repair. It will probably cost more overall to install new but depending on availability of the new section(s) will be more condusive to getting heat on quicker...Robert O'Connor/NJ

    Wondering...

Why the leaks in only 12 years ? Make sure you don't have any leaks in the system that will cause the feed valve to replenish the water frequently, this will cause a boiler to develop leaks.

I'd get new, efficient boiler AND make sure the SYSTEM is in good shape as well.
