Hot Water Rad out of Preasure

I live in a two story house that is broken up into two apartment, I am on the 2nd story. The heating is a hot water rad system. I find the apartment a little chilly and have also noticed that the rads are gurgling. So I have been bleeding the rads, mainly in the bathroom, for the past month. But in less than a week I would have to do it again. I have tried to bleed a couple of the other rads and there was a significant amount of air. I bled a rad last night and the system lost its preasure. I could take the valve off and there was no hissing. Did I screw up the system?

Is there a mechanism for the system to recover water? This is an old house and I doubt that the landlord has had the heating looked at in a while. I just want to understand the problem before I talk to him.

Thanks for any help.
Chris

You have to be sure the system is filled properly with water, it sounds like it may be low. It is hot water , yes. With a small square nut that is opened on a valve on top of the radiator, not a steam system with a large air vent. Check water boiler level first or you will always have air if it is to low
