Ive piped in many boilers but never seen a steam boiler. A body of mine asked me to replace his and im not certain if i could handle it. How realistic and Safe ( safe more than any thing) is it to attemt it.

I take it your a water boiler installer..
fear not, you can do it but i would highly, highly, with great assertion, recommend you read Dan's ''lost art of steam heat'' first..then follow the manufacturers directions and you should be fine...heck, i'm the other way around..steams fine, but a water boiler i'm always questioning my next move..you'll do okay..were always here to help..gwgillplumbingandheating.com
