    System leak

I have a standard hot water/ radiator heating system in my home. I believe I may have a leak in my system, because my pressure slowly drops. Instead of putting a Automatic Fill valve in, I would like to isolate the leak and fix it. My question is, what is the proper way to find the leak ?? Is emptying the system and filling it up with some kind of pressuized gas and then search for the leak an option?? Any help on this topic is greatly appreciated.

    try this

I've had to find several leaks like that. What I did was look at all the baseboards/elbows and airvents. Whenever you see one that has green copper oxide/corrosion around it then its probably leaking. My leaks were caused by old airvents of the kind that used cork/fiber seals. These dried out over time and started to leak one after the other. I finally replaced them all with new airvents that seal metal against metal. Haven't had a problem since.

Is there piping, that you cant see? often leaks will occur in concrete slabs. there are leak detection contractors, that have several different methods for finding leaks.
