My first snowmelt

yesterday. I've been waiting impatiently since last Spring My wife and I put in a sidewalk and I snuck some insultarp and pex into it before the pour. (BTW, She thinks I'm nuts. Perhaps:P) My idea was to run the snowmelt just to prevent ice spots since I've got a snow blower for the preponderance of the snow. Unfortunately my results were mixed. Parts of the sidewalk got up to 49 degrees when checked with an infared thrmometer, but other spots several inches away stayed below 30 and the ice did not melt. I have no experience to draw from. Are the cold spots due to different depths of the tubing. Did I not run the system long enough? Would it have evened out in time. I thought there would be more conduction in the concrete to give a more homogeneous temperature. Should I have left the snow on top to give an inulating cover that would have spread the heat out? I scraped the snow off with the snowblower first. Did I run my water too hot? Any feedback from more experienced wallies is appreciated. WW
