Heat Maker questions

installation, service and maintenance literature on Heatmakers? It is also a good idea to get in touch with the Laars folks and get one of their parts kits. When you talk to them ask them to give you a set of their manuals and maintenance check list.

I am going to try and have a school on Endurance and Heatmakers sometime before next winter. It will probably be a two day school.

    Heat Maker questions

    Hello,

I got a call to keep 28 Heatmaker HW's going; is there anyone out there that know these things inside and out? I know the basic idea; installed maybe 6 or so over the years. These are LP, so I'm wondering what has to happen to give them a complete bill of health, how many hours I may want to count on, etc. Thanks for any help,

    Tim,

That class can't come soon enough ... three out of the last five boilers I've worked on have been Heatmakers or Laars EBPs. I count five more grey hairs for each one!

    Overall they....

are a pretty good unit if installed to specs. I have about 6 customers out there with them (all Nat. gas) The biggest thing I see they need is ignigters... keep a bunch on hand...kpc

I had several Heatmakers but the coils went on Both of them. I still have some parts for them though. One of the units I replaced with a Laars EBP 175 which is super quiet and modulates. The Original Heatmakers were very good on gas but The new units are much better. Gives me unlimited hotwater and heats my house in minutes. My gas bill is under 200 for 2 months.

Modulates mostly on low fire. Had some minor board issues but Laars came up with a new board and unit runs excellent.

My biggest problem with the heatmakers were they were installed with plastic ventpipe for the exhaust and eventually the plastic melted and had to be replaced. Went through several Taco pumps other then that the units worked fine.
