Temporary steam heat
the night before . A huge Weil Mclain that dry fired . We noticed the asbestos sheets and had to cancel the job ....... until an idea popped up .

We simply
piped in a quick supply and return to the new Burnham , without touching the asbestos , or the old boiler . This was on Friday , the removal guys went there a few days ago and we returned today to repipe .
Funny thing is the system ran not too bad . 2 spitting vents and a few knocks , but I guess it was better than the alternative .0 -
Finished job
Burnham V84 . We upgraded to a 3 inch header , and split up the 2 steam mains . Both mains were pitched down toward the boiler , so we repitched them . The system did not bang at all while we cleaned the returns , about an hour and a half . The last pic is the first batch of condensate . I'd hate to see that pumped back into the new boiler .0 -
Tip of the hat to you!
Ron, as usual, your jobs warm my heart. I really like the creativity you brought to this project, allowing the client to limp along until the asbestos could be abated. The finished steamer speaks for itself. Between the beautiful drop header, the couplings, and the obligatory plumbness, etc. this is yet another feast for the eyes.
In particular, I like the reducing 90° bends on the header for a very clean (and functional) look. All the best, and I look forward to your next post-install pictures.0 -
I had an ulterior motive too
It was either stay there and get the heat going temporarily , or go back to the shop and more than likely load up another boiler . But I'd be starting the 2nd boiler around 11:30 instead of 9 am .
The homeowner said he had little kids too , so that was the clincher .
Thanks alot Constantin , I appreciate the time you take to post your kind words .0 -
Atta' boy Ron!
I bet you got the star of the day award...I like the attitude...find a way to make it work...nice clean job! kpc
