To notice the different things around us and today I've hit paydirt twice.
On the drive home from work, I saw a jet black colored squirrel. This is very rare around here and I had to do a triple take. The camera was right there with me but Mr. squirrel was far too quick. Then on my way in the driveway, a gaggle of Canada geese was coming in for a landing in the river across the street. Lo and behold, there was an albino Canada goose leading the flying vee.
I tried to get a picture of the beautiful critter, but he immediately climbed up on the ice and it would be like taking a picture of a snowman in a snowstorm. He/she did have 4 or 5 black flight feathers on the wingtips but it was the first "Caucasian" one I've ever seen.
I'm learning. Slowly but surely I'll be watching a bird feeder for kicks. Thanks again. Chris

So much to see
at the birdfeeder. Thanks for looking, Chris. ;-)Retired and loving it.0 -
White goose
Look up snow goose to see if it matches the one you saw. The black flight feathers are there.0 -
The census at my feeder this am...
Bluejay, cardinals(mom&pop), lots of chickadees, several finches, nuthatches, small woodpeckers(mom&pop), juncos, mourning doves, redheaded woodpecker, and 3 demented, evil-genius grey squirrels who can get past any anti-squirrel device!0 -
Albino Goose
You know, it is also highly likely that it wasn't a Canada Goose. Sometimes, geese (and other critters) just end up in totally different gaggles. If that's the case, it likely thinks it's a Canada Goose.0
