Unexpected help from CO Expert

Here's a strange....

My daughter still has my CO Expert detector (see my post about her gas log fireplace). Last night her Lowes-purchased generic CO detector (which I also purchased for them in my pre-enlightenment days) went off. She yanked the battery and grabbed the CO Expert detector from her mantleplace and installed it where the generic version had been. The Expert read 14 ppm.

Turns out her husband had run the car in the garage for a bit and they were reading residual exhaust fumes.

But the generic detector alarmed!

The Expert saved them from a midnight visit from the fire department. So much for the UL standard saving the fire department from false alarms.

I have taken nighthawks and sealed them in a plastic bag and filled them with exhaust. They will alarm eventually. So at one time I am sure the CO levels were much higher nand they had disssipated by the time the ul rates alarm decided to alarm. It happens alot. Take your CO Experts unit ito the garage right after the car has run if you really want to see something.
