Thermostatic Vents for Single Pipe Steam

In my quest to even out the heat in my house, I had the following interesting suggestion from Boilerpro. He wrote:
"They are just like TRV's except they install at the air vent on one pipe steam heaters. When the room reaches the temperature setting, the vent closes, slowing the rate that steam enters the radiator because it prevents more air from getting out of the radiator. When the boiler shuts off and the pressure in the system drops, air is brought in through a vacumn breaker and the radiator fills with air. Then when the boiler fires up the next cycle, the steam can't get in because the air can't get past the closed vent. This is how I understand they work. Take a look at the Danfoss Website... you can see some there. Installation is a matter of spinning off the old vent and installing the valve and new vent."
Since everything is working well on my system after several years of tweaking, venting, etc. (Thank you all), I appreciated his suggestion. But, I've been to several sites, including Danfoss, and I'm having trouble identifying exactly which items are the thermostatic vents for single pipe steam. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
DRod

Thanks, Perfect. If you can reccomend a source, that'd be great.0 -
most plumbing and heating
distributors should be able to get our 1 PS. Order Danfoss Code Nos.:
013G8250 - Operator
013G0140 - 1 PS Valve Body w/ Vacum Breaker
013L8011 - Vent for 1 PS Valve.
Any questions please call me @ 443-648-1205.

What's a ballpark figure for one for the average consumer?0 -
Macon OPSK
The Macon OPSK thermostatic valve radiator valve for one pipe steam can be ordered from www.StateSupply.com for $95. I installed one of these last year on a bedroom radiator that always overheated the room, and have been very happy with it.0 -
Ballpark Figure
I found the Danfoss online at a couple of places, but have not ordered from them: Webb Supply and Garnet Midwest. I also found the Danfoss locally for about $82 (including a Gorton vent), which is close to the cheapest cost I've found online.0 -
H/well Braukman
Any one familiar with this product. H/W does not include a vacum breaker does Danfoss?0 -
Which model for radiators covered
All of my radiators have metal enclosures set around them. Which version do you suggest?0 -
There are remote actuators
Available for them, I believe.

You can use a wall mounted operator and place it the sensor outside of the cabinet for this applicaiton. See the attached data sheet.0 -
danfoss
1 PS valves include vacum breaker. See our data sheet above

We make them too...
Ours are Y100P1001, which includes the valve, and the steam/air vent. You can also use the T100 actuator, the T100B remote sensor or the T100F remote sensor. Check it out at http://hbctechlit.honeywell.com. Type in the numbers above, no charge and no password required. Available from any progessive steam/hydronic wholesaler.0 -
Bill
That is the product number I have. However, when I read the enclosed literature it recommends adding a vacum breaker. Nowhere can I or my supplier find a device which is directly compatible with your valve. Any help would be appreciated.0 -
Hi, Boiler Guy!
We just make the valve, vent & thermostatic actuator. I think Danfoss builds their vac breaker into their valve. A seperate vac breaker should be available from a steam oriented wholesaler, but I don't have a brand name or number handy. Any ideas MadDog or Steamhead???0 -
you are correct
the Danfoss 1 PS does have a vacum breaker built in to the valve.
