Water Hammer Problem,,,in need of options

We're in Brooklyn on the 5th floor of a co op building w/steam heat and we've got bad Water Hammer which is not in a radiator but in the vertical steam pipe in the bathroom...the pipes are incorrectly pitched so the condensation makes noise every time the Steam comes on. The plumber tried to fix by putting in a drip tee and it didn't work. Besides replacing the pipes altogether any possible solutions? Anything to lessen the noise? We need sleep.....

Over-vented radiators?
If the radiator vents are too big, the steam will rush up the riser so fast that water won't be able to drop back down the riser. This will cause banging.

Check the vent
at the top of the riser. Could be painted over or plugged. Vents not only vent air, they break a vacuum.
