One-pipe systems were generally designed to return condensate by gravity. Unless there is radiation below the "A" dimension, I doubt if the pump is needed.

    Radiators like Niagra Falls

    Hello Wallies,

I went to a job this A.M. at a group home and found some poor maintenance man dealing with a radiator that had the air vent removed and water was spilling out of the radiator like I have never seen before.

We went downstairs to look at the boiler, I found a HB Smith G210 residential steam boiler with a McDonnell Miller 150 LWCO/ pump controller hooked up to a Skidmore PC-6 condensate tank. The water in the sight glass was bouncing wildly, the boiler was not firing. The PC-6 was adding water to the boiler fairly frequently.

Does the MM150 and PC6 seem like overkill on a small steam boiler???Any input would be appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Wild Bill
