Finding a professional

I have an old house in the Boston area...2 pipe steam system with an ancient boiler and lots of problems going on(some rooms too hot, some too cold, radiators don't heat on shorter cycles, etc. I have been reading this site for awhile, way to technical for the likes of me (I'm a doctor). I basically am looking for suggestions as to what to ask a professional, what to look for, just to get an idea as to whether the guy knows what he is doing...I have postponed doing this for so long, because so many of the plumbers and oil guys that I have spoken to over the years didn't seem to know how to deal with 2 pipe steam.
Thanks

Dr. Dennis..
Why not scroll to the top of the page and click on "FIND A PROFESSIONAL" then type in you're zip code. You can also go left and click on books and more and find a homeowner friendly book about steam heat...Robert O'Connor/NJ0 -
Book
Buy the "We got steam heat" book and if that proves fun to read get the "Lost art of steam heating" for more details. If I remember Dan who's site this is has a friend pro where you are that did the steam heat on the Old North Church of Paul Reveere fame.
