Every boiler
needs a Hartford loop and equalizer. Even on a VECO. How about taking some pics and posting them?

Steamhead,
How come the old Veco's did not have hartford loops and equilizers? I noticed on pag 256 of The Lost Art it shows a steam Veco system that looks as if it where pipied like a water boiler? Although, on page 255 there is a diagram where the boiler has an equilizer on the right and a reciever on left. Where these different install methods?
Also, every Veco system I have come across no longer has the reciever. How intricate is that part and why where they eliminated?
Attached is a picture of the new Steam boiler we just put in attached to a Veco System. (this is the one we talked about the other night)

Nice job dude
We see alot of old vapor systems still with original boiler...with no Hartford loop or equaliazer. Thes old pups have such a strapping steam chest that it could compensate for mssing elements like that. We still see alot of 3" and 4" header too..even on average-sized residential boilers. Today, with thse smaller faster, low water content boilers, Hartford loops, equalizers and good headers are vital . Mad Dog

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP WILL BE DOING THIS SPRING LOVE TO TAKE PICTURES AND POST AGAIN THANKS!!!!!!!0 -
The Hartford Loop
had not come into general use when these systems were installed. This is why we don't see them on boilers from the 1920s and earlier.
