Venting WM Ultra through Chimney

I posted a similar question a couple of days ago. I wanted to vent through my chimney for a Peerless Penaccle boiler. I was told as long as nothing else uses that vent then I can.

    Venting WM Ultra through Chimney

I would like to install a WM Ultra to replace my 70 year old boiler. The design of my house is such that there are enough windows to make it impossible to vent through the wall. Bummer!

Can I run the 4-inch PVC pipe up the chimney flue (this flue is not used for anything else) as a solution to this problem?

    Thanks

But I haven't purchased the boiler yet. Want to make sure I can vent it properly, since the window clearances are not adequate for through the wall.

How many windows do you have?

Here in ma. if it`s a direct vent appliance (ie all combustion air and exhaust routed directly outside.) you can locate the termination a foot away from doors and windows.

If you want to run it up the chimney make sure you have no offsets in the chimney and make sure you have room for both 4" pipes.

Offsets make it nearly impossible to run the pipes down.

    Do your

homework as Robert suggests. I had a similar situation but could not use the chimney. I found enough clearance to meet Code.

Have run the Ultra up the chimney....

BTW how big a one are you installing???? The 230 can be run fairly far with a 3" pipe.....
Also, you don't have to run both pipes up the chimney, if you have an older house that is not so tight it will work just fine to pull intake from the basement, of course codes may not let you do that, it depends on where you live......
