pipe insulation and steam vents

I'm a homeowner on eastern Long Island NY with an old house with a one pipe steam system, which actually works pretty well. Our local plumbing supply shops don't seem very familiar with steam systems. Can someone recommend a plumbing supply in Suffolk County that would be familiar with steam, well stocked and helpful? Also, if aesbestos insulation has been removed from 1 1/2" and 2" iron pipes, what is best to replace it with? Do they make tube type replacements or does the pipe have to be wrapped with a strip type of insulation? Thanks in advance for any help. John A.
