Riello Sooting Up In Buderus Boilers

Hi all, Just wanted to know if anyone has had a problem with Riello burners sooting/clogging up the end cone. I have a Buderus G-215-3. I have heard of this problems on other Buderus boilers with the same burner. The burners were all installed to factory specs. An efficiency test was done on all units when installed, and seemed to be running clean at the time of the test. A few months would go by and the burners would start to sputter and mis fire. After cleaning the end cone off and changing the nozzle all is well for a while??? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    it isnt set up correctly.

instruments are the way to do it.who ever set it up for you would be the person to ask. i think it sounds like it isnt getting enough air.or there is alot of dust that has entered the burner thru the air shutter.

    Riello burner

the soot was mostly on the slotted the disc and on the electrode tips . the burner was set up with combustion equipment.

    the dead of winter

If there is a time to find out whether there is enough combustion air, the dead of winter is it. As houses get closed up real tight, issues with combustion air and contaminates start to surface. Any recurring problem should be directed to Riello tech support.

    Sooting Riello

Was the over fire draft checked? I believe that boiler is a positive pressure unit. A high over fire draft condition will cause flame detachment. The face of the turbulator will be full of black coke deposits. You should have a good draft control,(I like the Field RC type) + set the damper to get +005- +01 pressure over fire. If an above ground fuel tank is used, Riello recomends an 80deg spray nozzle to off set a possible cold oil problem. Hope this helps.

    Hi Dave,

    A .5 Delavan 80 degree W nossle is the normal one for a Riello BF-3 in a 3 section G115-21.
