Replacing a #2 steam vent
Peter Bernier
Member Posts: 1
I have cold areas in my house and am going to try to replace the main vents. 1 is a hoffman and can be found however the other 2 are "No 2 Deluxe Guaranteed" and I can't find them anywhere. Is there another vent I can use for this?

I would like to think...
... that a Gorton #2 should do the trick. However, I'd have one of the steam gods here like Mad Dog, Steamhead, etc. confirm this first.0 -
\"Steam Gods\"?
Doesn't make sense, Constantin- since gods are immortal, I'd never get to be a Dead Man ;-)
Peter, the next step is to measure the length and diameter of each steam main and tell us what vent is on it. Subtract 1/4" from the outside pipe diameter to get the pipe size. If they have old insulation, don't disturb it- just measure the outside diameter of the insulation and subtract 2-1/4 inches to get the likely pipe size. Most of this old stuff was 1-inch thick.
With this info we can tell you what you need.
