I recently was called to look at this heating plant that was installed in 1999 . Large estate on eastern long island .Has 3 peerless ect 5 sect boilers ,2 120 gal. indirects & pool heat exchanger. Boilers were piped in primary /secondary With chilled water for cooling .All three boiler were able to fire all at the same time .I repiped system with new circs, smoke pipe ,air vets and new x tank. Also installed tekmar 264 boiler control useing outside reset.Oil company could not understand why jackets on boiler were all scorched. Again all three boilers were running at same time with a 10" flue firing at 2.50 gph Dah!!!.It now runs great and looks a little neater also.

Well , it sure Looks a lot better.
there are some minor technicalities with burners lashed up with which boiler sees the heaviest long term load...0 -
Nice Save!
The boilers in the before pictures look scary. Considering the quality of the materials (boilers, Phase III tanks, etc.) one would think that the install quality would have followed...
The new flue vents are much neater and inspire a lot more confidence than the older setup. I imagine that your better control logic is not only going to increase the longevity of those boilers a great deal but it will also lower fuel consumption considerably.
Painting the primary manifold was a nice touch also. Did you install the flexible SS braid "bridge" piping or was that there from the beginning? It's the first time I've seen it used in a residential heating system.
Again, a great save and thanks for posting the pics.0 -
Good
upgrade on the venting. Looks like back pressure has been a problem on the original install. Just curious about tieing in each vent on the square like you have done. How much main chimney draft do you have? Have you noticed any back pressure on each of the boiler vents with all operational? In our jurisdiction we are required to tie in @ 45* to promote better flow within the combined vent. No criticism, just curiosity.0 -
Lashing Lashed up?????????
I'm not sure what you mean? Nice rework of an existing system. Wouldn't it have been easier to do new boilers? JOey0
