Pressuretrol - a silly question??

Ok, I feel a little silly asking this question but anyway. I wanted to check the pressure on my boiler and looked inside for the pressuretrol. However, I can't see anything on what i am presuming to be the pressuretrol that would allow me to change the temperature. Could I be mistaking the pressuretrol for something else or what am I missing here? What is the best setting for my pressuretrol to be fixed on? Right now the dial is set on 12?

Thanks for the help.

    press setting

The pressuretrol controls pressure not temperature. There are 2 settings.Cut in pressure I set at 1 lb;cut out pressure I set at 2lbs. Add the two together and you get 3 lb which is the real cut out pressure. There are variations that are used this is a general guide.

    Steam or hot water?

A pressuretrol (or vaporstat) is used on a steam boiler to control "pressure" (usually to limit it at something less than 2 psi).

If you have a hot water boiler, there is some other type of control to control water temperature. Hopefully your pressure relief valve would protect your system from excessive pressure, like if your water feed leaks, your temperature control is set wrong or malfuntions, or your expansion tank becomes waterlogged.

I typed "temperature", I meant to type "pressure". I'm looking to change the pressure, not the temperature.

    Pressuretrol is Honeywell trademark

Pressuretrol is actually a trademark for a pressure control made by Honeywell. If you have one, it says Honeywell and has one or two external screw adjustments with slider to indicate setting. If it has only one external adjustment, the differential is a wheel inside.

If you have something else on your pigtail (spiral pipe), you may have some other model or brand of pressure control (assuming a steam boiler).
