How is the leg coming?

    leg still attached

Cant wait to start P.T. Couple of hours from now as a matter of fact. Tired of the crutches and "The Boot" as my family calls it. Shooting for Mar/Apr return to service (and thats wishful thinking). Once the therapy starts, I'm hoping things will go fast. Thanks for asking. Up until today, I've had to limit my activities to those that didnt involve one leg and a pair of crutches. Needless to say, that kind of narrowed the field. Hopefully, after today, I'll maybe put my foot on the ground for the first time in nearly two months. Theres a special spot in my scrap barrels for the crutches. Unless one of you guys need them? Does anybody collect or re-cycle crutches? Maybe the local V.F.W or something. I think I need two different size boots now. Left ankle is still 2X as big as the right. It definately looks odd. It FEELS good though (so far) and thats big. I'll let you know how it feels AFTER the therapy starts today. Should be interesting. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for asking.

Save the crutches, you may need them when you go back and finish that job for your friend. Did he trip you, or push you off that roof?? Just kidding. Hope you feel better soon, and remember "Better Living Through Chemistry".Robert O'Connor/NJ

    Yeah, I know the feeling

I still have the ugly boot. Gotta go get a new one on the 25th. I am told I can't put any weight on mine for another 6 - 8 weeks. No whispers yet about therapy. This sitting around really sucks. I think I might try sneaking in to the office a few hours next week. You know -- Go in, stir the pot and escape before the ladle starts swinging. Can only stand so much of Springer!!! Care to share your dominatrix? Maybe between the two of us she will have a full time job.
The weather here has been brutal. -46 with windchill
BTW -- Where are you located any way.

Here on the beach in N.J.

it was near 60 degrees yesterday morning when I got up and it was snowing by 2:00 p.m. Thankfully all of our precip has been in the form of rain. Crutches and snow/ice dont mix. Therapy WAS torture only not the kind of torture you guys are referring to. No leather. Only latex in the form of a giant resistance rubber band that hooks around my foot. However it WAS only the first day so I guess theres plenty of time left for Mistress Laurie to reveal her dark side. You gotta figure that all therapists are masochists of some kind. But so far, its nothing like PulpFiction (for those who are familiar with THAT movie). For those who arent familiar, the reference cannot be explained. Sorry. Its something you'd have to see to be in dis-belief. Anyway, couple months of P.T at 3x a week will hopefully do the trick. I'm hoping things go fast. After reading most of Dans publications(again) I am just about done with the last of George Lanthiers publications for the second time. I must recommend these books HIGHLY. They are all jam packed with TONS of info that when you dont apply daily, you can easily forget. They are refreshers as well as straight out learning tools. I picked up ALOT of info these past few weeks. I realized that I need a hands on Riello course. Does anyone know of any? Theres only a hand full of Riellos around here and the times I work on them is few and far between. Anyway, I cant say enough good things about George and Dans books. I have carried, and will continue to carry these books by my side when I get back in the service truck. Anyhow, gotta go work the ankle now. I'll keep you guys posted if the status of the form of torture changes. If it does, I'm sure that there will be a few long distance phone bills in boilerguys future. I'm going to "whip" up a cup of tea now. I'll keep you all posted.

    OK, Tommy!

It makes very happy you are on your way.
I did not see "Loving Monday" on your reading list, any reason why?
I did make a deal with Alan for you to get it. I think it is just as important to read as Dan's and George's tech books.

    Prayers work,

    PT

Hey Tommy glad to see that your getting to PT.We don't know each other but I had a similar injury 6 yaers ago shattered right heel.I just wanted to let you know about PT make sure they book you as many times as possilbe in the first 60 days most plans stop coverage after that.Second if the vet says that you are healed fully and it is a matter of getting things moving than tell the therapist to push your foot to the limit most scar tissue can be broke down in the first 2 years.Last the best therapy is work.I know because I was only able to go so far at PT but once back to work the ladder work seemed to be the best, came home dragging the leg behind me but in time I was able to get back to those 14 hr days and my gate has improved to the point that no one knows that I have this injury. So work it hard have no mercy on that foot it will pay off in the long run.God Bless and speed.

    Hey Al

That was the FIRST book I read as it was the first one I recieved in the mail. I think that book probably applies to all of us. I know I was enlightened. It was appropriate for my situation. Also read a Stepen Ambrose book called The Wild Blue. It was about WW2 and the guys who flew B-24 missions over Germany. It was especially interesting because growing up I had a neighbor who was shot down behind enemy lines in Germany. His uniform and some memoribilia is in an aviation hall of fame in Teterboro N.J. Very cool book. I'm now halfway through Stephen Coonts book Liberty. I never was too fond of reading. Now I cant put the stuff down. Change is good in this case. So, not to worry, I'm reading everything at least once, sometimes twice. Took a walk up by the beach yesterday (on the boardwalk actually). Seeing the water is therapy all by itself. I cant wait till this is over. Got some work around the house today I'm going to give a go at. Just stuck a 22 pound Turkey in the oven. My brother is coming over to watch my Vikings cook the Eagles today. Since we cant eat eagle we are having some sort of bird in effigy. Should be fun. GO VIKINGS!!!
