Hey Guys..

and gals.. Don't want to be sexist here!

I got myself a Combustion anylizer.. Does everthing itself basically. But, I need to know how to calculate it for myself.

Kinda like haveing a calculator to figure multiplication and never knowing how to yourself when the batteries run out.

Books? Web site? Seminar?

Thanks... :-) Ken

offers a great course with Jim Davis teaching.

    Combustion and CO seminar

Tim McElwain is another source. Perhaps he can post the schedule for his Combustion classes?

You're going to be amazed at what you find with that analyser!

KCA, not sure exactly what you are looking for....

If you mean the SSE calculation, my understanding is that it is propriatary depending on the manufacturer of the instrument but they are all based on the "Siegert equation".

One concern I have is too much emphasis on the SSE calculation, remember, if all the other numbers (O2, CO air free and stack temp) are not within the manufacturer's spec's, the SSE reading is a meaningless number.

    Hi Matt

The pro will do larger equipment with no problems, the only advantage some of the 'commercial' test instruments have is stronger pumps so you can pull the sample through a longer hose and probe assembly, like in the case where you have a rear breach boiler and want to have the instrument up near the burner while you are making adjustments.

    If you haven't seen it...

The TSI website has some good info, but if you haven't seen it yet, the www.bacharach-training.com website has more 'hands on' oriented info.

    Hope it is helpful, rudy

    Maybe he's looking for...

the chart that converts O2 to CO2 for the different fuels, Rudy. I have an old one I got from Lennox I think, not worthy of scanning and posting, unfortunately.

    Hi Glenn

If that's the case, I've got a conversion chart up on the 'References' section of the training website, probably the same as your Lennox chart.

And by the way, anybody have a boat I can borrow?!?! Not much chance of getting water in the house but my little piece of the Ohio valley is getting pretty water logged!!

Fortunately, it should be pretty much frozen solid by the weekend....

    Here's what I have

Found this graph which is like the one I have on the Beckett web site. Just wish I could make it clearer.
