Tekmar--return temp sensor?

Installing a tekmar 264 and was wondering if someone could explain what the return temp sensor does?

Is it just for information or does it actually affect the operation somehow?

The paperwork that comes with doesn't really explain what it does.

    return sensor

    The return sensor monitors the boiler return temperature. If you have a cast iron boiler you need to protect it from low temperature return, which causes fluw gas condesation The is somewhere around 135 degrees, depending on the manufacturer. The return will not allow the rerun to the boiler drop below this preset temperature. If you were using low temperature radiant heating(below 135 degrees) the control would limit the amount of heat leaving the primary loop until the boiler return was above the boiler minimum setpoint(135)
