Humphrey gas heater AGAIN!

A question about a Humphrey Radiantfire...
What should my Humphrey Gas Heater look like once it is working and ignited using natural gas? Does the ceramic fireback help radiate the heat...I know you need the ceramic inserts, but what would happen if it was operated without them.

The ceramic MOST DEFINITELY radiates heat and should be considered required for operation I believe. The flame will probably be uncontrolled without the ceramic pieces.
If anything like the more modern versions, the blue natural gas flames will "lick" over the ceramic which begins to glow--mainly in various shades of red. Some parts will probably be "yellow hot" and a few "white hot".0 -
That is exactly....
what I thought would happen. Mine is being tested by the gas company this week and installed later. I have to order the cermamic inserts from a website I found!
Thanks Mike!0
