no cut-out switch???
Geoff
Member Posts: 7
Hello.
I have a one-pipe steam system with an oil-fired boiler.
I want to reduce the cut-out pressure because, when the boiler fires for a long time and all radiators are hot, the air vents on the radiators blow out to reduce pressure. The boiler never cycles off until the temperature is satisfied.
Problem is my pressuretrol (Honeywell) only has a cut-in setting (set to 1 psi). There is no cut-out or differential setting (that I can see).
Am I on the right track? Am I missing something? Thanks for your help. Geoff.

pressuretrol
Geoff, if you have a Honeywell, the "cut-out" switch is under the cover. It's called the differential. On that control, the cut out is equal to the cut-in plus the differential. SHUT OFF THE POWER and take off the cover of the control. The white wheel should be set at 1 for most residential applications. Point the 1 to the front, or directly at you. Lower the cut-in to its lowest setting and the boiler will operate between 1/2 and 1 1/2 lbs, which is ideal for most applications.
