Radiator Leak

HI there,
we just moved into an older home, where it had been renovated before we moved in. The radiators are all steam, with the exception of one in the kitchen, which is baseboard. Yesterday, I heard a loud banging in an
upstairs radiator and then the baseboard heater spewed dirty water. I shut the heat off and called a plumber. They said the system needed bleeding and replaced the valve in the radiator in the kitchen. They also raised the end of the baseboard heater. Again, this morning I heard the loud clanking in the upstairs radiator and rushed downstairs to see a little bit of dirty water in the same place under the downstairs baseboard heater. Any ideas of how to proceed? It seems to happen when the system is first coming on as it is has been on for the rest of the day with no similar problems? I am a first time homeowner and complete novice so please explain any technicalities clearly. Thanks - any advice appreciated

Why not first look left and click on Steam Problems? You may find your answer there. If not satisfied, try looking above and click on Find a Pro then enter your zip code. You may need someone more familiar with steam...Robert O'Connor/NJ0 -

From one homeowner to another. If you have steam heat buy Dan's books "We Got Steam Heat" and /or "The Lost Art of Steam Heating". You'll end up knowing more about your system than most people.0
