Problems with heating system in a older house. Two pipe system with no traps, radiator piping supply and return both at bottom.Coal boiler replaced with smaller gas boiler. Hartford loop connected above boiler in steam header is one problem. Steam trys to heat both ends of radiators which heats poorly($3000.to $5000. a year gas bill. Need imformation on this one. Thanks

Jeff, two possibilities
This could be Vapor, or 2-pipe Air-vent.
Do the radiators have vents on them? Are there shutoffs on both sides of the radiators?
Take some pics of a couple typical radiators, and the boiler and associated piping including any hardware mounted in the piping around the boiler, and post them here. This will help us identify your system.
