Operating Controls - Tekmar & Sentry - Q's

You are right, a tekmar Control is an Operator Control and not a Safety Control.

The real story is, that in some States and Provinces, only one limit is required and one operator, where in others two limits are required, one automatic reset and the other manual reset.

So, to answer your quesion, I think it depends on where you are located and what the local requirements and codes are.

Hope this helps.

Mike

    addt'l Operators required?

I have been supplying Tekmar Boiler Controls with Boilers that come only with a High Limit.

I am now being told that even if a Tekmar Operator is used, the Boiler MUST have an OPerating Aquastat AND a High Limit.

I'd like clarification on this, and if it is the case.. How is NTI selling Trinity/Legacy Boilers with a Microprocessor for an operator along with only a clamp on high limit???

to my understanding Tekmar controls are NOT safety devices (which is why a std aquastat-high limit is also used). But another operator over & above the tekmar required??

    I'm confused.
    pls help.

    thanks Mike

Mike - any idea about Alberta?

I've been using the Tekmar + High limit only for years and only heard about need of 2nd -aqastat operator today..

    by the way...
It's Terry From Frontier Supply here - I was at your plant in June.. I bet you have as much snow as we do now.. :)

I would just use a manual reset high limit with a Tekmar. That's all you would need, simple and safe. Probably safer than a triple aquastat with no manual reset.

    Hey Terry

Good to hear from you. Had no idea you were Einsiedler. How you been? Happy New Year to you and Yours.

I am not certain about Alberta right now, but am sure that our local Rep would know. Call Roy in Calgary at 403-291-1244, he would definitely know for sure.

    Keep in touch, my friend.

PS.: Will be doing a big tour through Alberta in middle of April. Hope to see you then.

AND, as far as the snow is concerned, we have plenty we received over the last 12 hours. My guess is about 5-6 inches and the forecast is asking for another 8-10 inches within the next 24 hours.

What happened to your huge 60 car pile-up on highway 2 just outside of Calgary yesterday?

    I agree with you, BUT...

if the local Inspector requires you to put one in, you'll have to. No matter what or if it even makes sense or not.

    Thats the way it goes....

    thanks again & you too.

H.N.Y. to you as well. Hopefully April won't be as brutal as this Jan is so for.

Roy was Out, But I spoke with Ed and he's never heard of 3rd control requirement.

on that note I shall carry on ... with Tekmar!

    Cheers to all!
