I use Rectorseal #5 or Loctite 568.
Loctite is that gooey black stuff, similar to "Grrrrrrrip" from Hercules. Works great, but don't get even a little on you, because it travels.:o
I use the Hercules hand towels to remove it from my person.:)0 -
GASOILA, This stuff is great i use it for everything from steam to refrigant just don't get it on you it cuz it takes a few days to wear it off. As rectorseal I am not a big fan to many bad experinces also been told that HB Smith prohibits useing it on there boilers but thats just a rumor. Alway try to avoid useing teflon tape fuel oil eats that stuff up and your find it in all kinds of unwanted places.0 -
pipe sealant
ditto on gasoila, I leaned about that one years ago from the guys in the field who worked for the local gas utility, but it will jump up to your elbows if you get any on you as any really good thread sealant will do0 -
I like hercules 'blue block' pipe dope for non-potable water applications (hvac and drainage) and I use tru blue by recorseal on potable water0 -
pipe sealant
teflon tape is a big no no for use on oil lines and fittings can break off and ruin gears in oil pumps0
