planning a geothermal system with radiant in slab looking at water furnace heat pump would a munchkin or the like also be necessary in a well insulated home in the north east

The first thing you need to do is get the load calculations run on the home. After this had been done, you can then choose the correct size HP based on the load.
Are you going vertical or horizontal with the heat exchanger? Make sure that your contractor anti-freezes the loop as well.
We have used geo-thermal heat pumps for radiant heating and have had no problems. The systems have to be sized correctly and installed correctly. I don't know what your outdoor design temperature is, but it will be critical in sizing your system.

yes good advice to do heat loss calc usually go seat of pants that's why i'm chatting here hoping to run loops for geo in pond 12' deep will try to get a temp reading
