Mixing w/ Manually set valves

for a 6 zone radiant job - if the Munchkin Vision is operating with outdoor reset, it will give me various temp depending on the weather - but if I use thermostatic valves to reduce my temp to some of the zones, then they will try to maintain that setpoint and i will loose reset in those zones, or am I missing something ?

what I am thinking of doing is using two manually set globe valves to dial in the max temp of each zone with the boiler putting out design temp, then as the weather gets warmer, the boiler will produce cooler water, and each zone will get proportionally cooler water also - is this a viable option or am I getting too cheap? (or simple?)

(I am not planning on constant circ, by the way)

    Flow

As long as your flow in each zone is constant it should work, if you have multiple zone valves or telestats on one mixing station your mix will vary depending on flow so it would be hard to adjust.

    good point-

at this point I am not using any telestats on the manifolds but told the HO that at a later point if he wants more zones we could sub zone the manifolds - like you say, that would throw off my mix.......... so with that in mind is the best option to just use the 3 way mix valves and loose the reset?

    Taco I Series

You might take a look at the taco I series valves they come either set point or outdoor reset, and are not too pricey at least compared to other options that would give you multiple temps.
