price of oil in my town

I am paying $189/gal, and that is low for my area (Greater Boston). If you want to see fuel oil prices dealer-by-dealer in New England, go to: http://www.newenglandoil.com/index.asp

I noticed that oil is going for much less in the Portland, Maine area -$1.45 to $1.65.

I only looked at the Massachusetts and Maine Prices. I guess that they don't keep track of Connecticut prices! -either that or I should move to Connecticut to lower my heating bills.

    J.C.A and Steve,

Many of our restaurants in So. CT have no prices on the menu either, some have no menu, the very continental waiter recites the menu for you.

Second mortgages are at a low rate.

    I paid 1.89 last del 12/10/04

    Toronto Area -- $2.15

    63.9 cents/litre + 7% GST

    Price x GST x Gallons/Litres x Exchange Rate

    0.639 x 1.07 x 3.785412 x 0.832 = $2.15US/Gallon

Natural Gas is about 20% cheaper per BTU here.

there is more oil than gas....

so the gas people are keeping it down to drive the last nail into the oil coffin before they wipe you out - so dont switch just yet - since at the end of the day - electric driven radiant (direct resistance or elec-element or heatpump heated water) may be the cheapest yet

as for oil, i saw this artical in a trade rag, (dont ask me to remember which, i read vast quantities of them) whereby they made a furnace with oil rails just like gas rails, and on the rails were multilayer pourous ceramic discs with air pressure on the bottom and oil entering in the middle layer, and the mixed stuff kind of mists out the top with a flame that looked like a nat gas flame - so there - dont panic!!!

    Hey Kal,

Sounds like a type of "gasification" of the fuel oil. I saw something like this in it's infancy a couple years back at Brookhaven National Labs. They were worried that the costs were not quite in line with regular burning of oil and the fuel we're getting with too much sulpher may cause problems. Good eye my friend. It MAY be in the works for good now! Chris.

P.S. Oil here in the northeast corner of Ma. is running about 1.80ish this week.

I paid $1.69 from a "COD" minimum service supplier. No service contract, etc.
