i have a 2" main 40' long the current main vent is a hoffman 45 & it's located at the end of the main right on the elbow with no nipple.

is annyone out there who could help with the proper main vent/vents and where to install it. i'm thinking of a street elbow a 15" nipple another elbow and a 8" nipple will this work?

Mark, that piping arrangement will work fine. The only thing I'd change is to substitute a regular elbow and a short nipple for the street elbow. This will not restrict the flow of condensate back thru the elbow like a street ell can. And make sure that the pipes have a slight pitch back to the steam main so condensate can drain properly.

Add a tee, an elbow and a couple of short nipples to the very top, as you want to vent that main with two Gorton #1 or Hoffman #75 vents. Both vents must be mounted vertically.

    Hope this helps.
