Saw this on the original boiler piping of a 1970's house I inspected for a client xmas eve morning. Guess the installer ran out of 3/4-1/2 reducers. First reaction is to shake your head, but hey, it's lasted thirtysome years... Just figured I share...

at 2 a.m.? break out the sledge hammer ,smack it flat burn the edge fold it done deal0 -

that was done by an HVAC mechanic //very common practice with hacks around the world ---crimp it braze it and move-on0 -
What a mess
didn't even bother to wipe the pipes when he was done. Look at all that corrosion.....

You gotta love silver solder, Ive seen guys use chunks of brass to fill holes punched in low temp. refer lines at 2a.m. in the morning it aint pretty but if its all you got.0
