Vapor Sizing
Recently I've heard that when you size a boiler for a vapor system based on a radiation calc. it is necessary to downsize the boiler EDR output by 20% to prevent short cycling. Is this true? For example if the Sq.Ft.EDR based on radiator sizing = 200, instead of needing a boiler that puts out a minimum of 250 sq. ft. EDR (200 + 20% for piping loss) a boiler less than 200 would be needed in cases of vapor systems?
How about a little help?0 -
It should be
radiation plus 1.33 for the piping. In the case of older systems where the insulation is gone (and not being replaced) you should use a 1.5 pick-up factor for the piping.Retired and loving it.0 -
Answer would be?
So then it is not necessary to downsize the radiation when dealing with vapor systems.0 -

That's correct.
