Hungry mice

Went to fill and fire a radiant system that we finished for someone else last week and had a major leak between the first and second floor. After chopping holes in the sheetrock to locate it we found the tubing was chewed through, apparently by a mouse trying to get through the hole in the joist where the tubing passed.
It has me pretty scared. In 15 years of installing pex this is the first rodent problem I've seen.I'm hoping this was a very isolated incident and not something thats going to become common.

Chewing issues
Hot Rod had some pics of this here a few years ago, I think it was where his pex came out of the concrete in the PVC sleeve. In some parts of the west the 1/2 inch PE for gas services comes with a cover pipe called gofer guard. Seems the critters find it hard to chew through it unlike the PE pipe. My experience is that rodents will chew through anything soft that's in their way, #!*%$ woodchuck got under the hood of my car and chewed through most of my ignition wires to get a comfy spot to hide.0 -

Chuck!
Ease up man, Groundhog day is still better than a month off yet. They won't be out for a while so relax.
Did you ever succeed in ridding yourself of that one last summer?
Has your friendly, local, (loco?) UPS driver delivered the Testo equipment you ordered from me yet?0 -
drop the bucks
Chuck,
You're just going to have to drop the cash and get the unit that floods the holes with propane and sparks. Not only do people say it works, think of the gratification.
