Boiler inspection report

Well, I said I would report back for all those who looked at photos of my boiler.
First, he said it is what it is...
He didn't like the placement of the aquastat, the temp/pressure guage or the low water cut-off and said he would prefer to see the low-water cutoff installed lower. He said that the probes and sensors on all three of these items were probably unable to provide accurate readings because they were stuck out too far on "T"s. He said the "T"s they are on are also tilted down and not level and that can contribute to inaccurate readings by changing the way the water flows around them. He thought the expansion tank capacity was fine, but it was put in a spot impeded access to the aquastat.
He said there is not, but should be, a temp/pressure guage on the return near the boiler.
No bypass was an issue and he also said that his recommendation would be for the circulating pump to be always on rather than only coming on when the thermostat called for heat. He was suspicious of the way the pump was wired into the relay.
He had me email him the link to the manual I downloaded and took the numbers off the boiler tag and is going to contact the manufacturer to determine exactly how it was shipped as far as the wiring and components are concerned because he suspects something may have been modified by the installer.
As I recall, I do think there was an issue with the pump when it was first installed and I think some creative wiring had been done because I remember it wouldn't fire up at first and after much head scratching, found that the relay burned up. Ended up with 3 burnt relays before the problem was solved, but I can't remember now what the problem was, but I think it was with the automatic damper or the pump.
Anyway, he is supposed to do some investigating and get back with me.

Lori...
What are the qualifications of this boiler expert?
How many has he installed, serviced etc...
How many years experience does he have in the field?
Just curious.

You're right , how do you know about the inspector, but if I remember the picture... the aquastat and the LWCO were in the branch of a tee outside of the direct stream of flow of the water. I think Lori said there were not many people familiar with hydronic heat in her area.0 -
So
A little lower on the lo/ water cutoff huh. I know your inspector would fail me. Why is this inspector looking at your boiler, local, County, State, or some home inspector. Perhaps Lori you could repost your photos. Best Wishes J.Lockard0 -
Hi everyone.
To answer some questions, he is a technician for Superior Boiler works here in town, the only people remotely involved with boilers of any sort. They deal in commercial boilers the size of trucks, but they said their service tech had knowledge of and worked on residential boilers.
It wasn't a mandated inspection, and I never said he was an expert, just the only person apparently within at least 150 miles who has a knowledge of boilers. I requested that he come inspect the boiler because I wanted to know if it was plumbed correctly and what defects their may be that need to be corrected since after spending some time here and posting questions, some problems were pointed out to me. The original installer didn't normally work on or install boilers. I had a hec of a time even getting anyone to install it.
The original photos were here.
