Choosing a steam boiler

Our boiler finally sprang a leak to big to fix. Seventeen degrees today and we're trying to figure out how to stay warm. Weil-McLain Eg-65 installed in 1977, should we replace with the same model? How do we find other prices on other mfrs products and efficiencies, etc.?

First thing I'd do
would be to have the leaks in the system fixed. If the boiler is leaking chances are you're adding lots of fresh water, and that means there's a leak in the piping. Where are you located? Have you tried Find a Pro?Retired and loving it.0 -
Furnace man is coming back in the morn to jb weld the leak, takes 15 hours to set, so hopefully it will be dry enough to work on in the morning. the section with the leak is pretty corroded, so would rather buy a new boiler than start replacing sections. Our furnace man learned from his dad, who installed present boiler. He recently installed a boiler in a block-long building in our small town (Michigan) which he said is 3-4 times as big as we will need.0
