Boiler sizing test

we got our seasonal boiler sizing test the other night. I woke up to 8 degree temps with howling winds. I start the day with a silent prayer, because of all of those installs I've done, where the heat load was considerably less than the existing equipment. Oh sure it will work. My computer told me so. ( Sung to the tune of Yes Jesus Loves Me, The bible tells me so). But today is the test. Design set point in 10 degrees around here. When I replace an old 150,000 btus cast iron with a Munchkin T-50 it makes me nervous on the inside, even though I know it should work. No calls by the next day tells me I done good. Whew!! Thank goodness. Peace on Earth ya'll. :D WW

Sometimes...
...getting no "presents" at all during the Christmas season are the best presents!
I am glad that your systems are holding up. If I can teach the folks working on our house that closing unused windows is a good idea, perhaps our house won't freeze up either (GRRRRR!)
Incidentally, only when Building Sciences started installing cooling systems in homes sized at 80% of Manual-J recommendations, did the cooling units actually run 100% of the time on a design-day.0 -
A strong feeling .......
.....of "pucker-butt" every time you do a heat loss, and come up with something considerably less than the existing heating plant.
"Did I miss something here?" seems to be the first thought to enter my mind. I have actually gone out and re-measured homes to make sure, and come up with the same figures.
And yes, Wayne, that first sub-zero day has you in a state of anxiety, just WAITING for the phone call.......funny thing is, it never comes!
Been there, done that, got the tee shirt!

yes .well, in theory i agree.....
stoped by a home thewind was seriously undermining it..yesterday evening thehomeowner found a small 1X1sq ft hole he hadspaced insulating theplace...the heat loss on the log cabin /new construction told me it would be close...the hole in the wall tells me maybe not in my favor...*~/:)0
