electronic feeders for steam?

2 manf's have told me to use the hydrolevel lwco shipped with their boilers and the matching elect. feeder.I dont like it, but maybe I am behind the times? I prefer my good old float type 47-2 and 150 models. thanks

    It's all we use and they have distinct advantages over the float type: no homeowner maintenance required (no blow down); delayed feed programming (lets the condensate come back before feeding more water); digital display of gallons fed to the boiler (great troubleshooting tool),etc.
    A couple words of caution: Read the instructions carefully regarding setting up the delay and feed dip switches,and always include pulling the probe and cleaning it during annual maintenance. If you don't service the burners after install, take a magic market and label the jacket: Pull this probe for cleaning annually. It will pick up rust and sludge and can give a false reading if caked and damp from steam. It's a great device and we use them all the time.
