Am looking at it tomorrow. Will let you know how I made out. But I think those were the older ones.

    Motor replacement

I haven't replaced one of those in a while and was wondering if one would have to drain the system to replace the Motor, or if the Head simply comes (twists) off without leaking the water out (IE TACO Zone Valve motor replacement doesnt require draining the system). The Valve in Question is rather old. Its a V8043G1018 and could be close to 30+ years.

    Thanks for feedback.

    three layers...

first the motor itself comes off with two screws, then the whole asembly comes off with 4 screws, which exposes the screws the to the actual valve coverplate with it's o-ring undeneith - only then you do you actualy have to drain

zone valves did not have the plate so removing the head gets you into water. There is a kit Part number 40003918 which includes a plate, driveshaft and rubber ring.

Some of the motors could however be changed with out getting into water. The shaft from the motor had a little lock screw that could be loosened and then the motor came out with out getting wet!!!

i found the pdf...needed current draw...

i have to hook up 2 8043 to a tekmar 510 and needed to know how much current the motor draws - answer .320 so a 510 with a 2 amp switch will hold 4-5 of them

anyway the exploded view of both types is in the pdf

so.. i had put in this 4 zone system..and..

the top floor was running with the windows open on sunny days - just dragnin on the heat - so we had two choices, either put alarm type remote window switches that dropped out the zone with a relay or - or pigiback the zone on the owner's level where the windows were closed - needless to say we opted for the latter

attached is my updated wiring diagram
