I have a honeywell ct3600. Smart response or conventional heating whats better for a one pipe steam system or does it matter.

On a conventional system without outdoor reset, then it's really your preference. I assume you want to use setbacks or you wouldn't be asking the question.
If you're in a fairly constant climate and your system response is predictable over the year, then normal timer mode would work fine.
If your climate varies and you want the thermostat to compensate for longer/shorter seasonal recovery times, then using Smart Response is a good idea.0 -
