snow melt ?

Anybody here use pool heaters outside for snow melting? one problem I keep bumping up against is that unless it's a little ity bity walkway , the boiler is to large to be put into exsisting chimneys 400k-1,000,000btu in most homes. Also most people finish the basement and don't want to give up the space. So I'm thinking wouldn't it be neat if we could just put the boiler outside. I just looked at a SM job and next to the pool house is this big honkin heater..... of course it needs HX's etc, but what about the idea.

Pool heaters
generally do not have ASME listings, if that matters in your area.
I think all the copper tube boiler manufactures offer outdoor diverter hood kits for their heating boilers.
